Navigation

Learning to navigate is a fundamental skill.  By understanding where you are and knowing where you want to get to, you need to be able to find that route.  We offer various courses from intros to basic nav, development of skills and training for qualification.  The National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) is a great way to  start to learn the skills, get tested and attain a qualification.  This can help you attain the skills required for National Governing Body qualifications for outdoor and adventure sports like the  Mountain Training.  Their Hill and Moorland Leader & Mountain leader qualifications require demonstrating good, consolidated navigation skills, conduct, judgement and leadership in a demanding environment

We offer 0.5 day to multi day learn to navigate package and although we are based on the edge of Dartmoor, we run these courses further afield in more mountainous terrain such as Snowdonia, Brecon and Cumbria.

The NNAS Bronze and Silver courses are a minimum of 2 days.  We can combine these with a wild camp/expedition training weekend and/or a night navigation.  

 If  you are after the Mount Training Award, then we will prepare you for it.   Step by step, our courses will build your skill base at the same time developing your confidence.
